Licensed, insured, and owner-operated, KingTek takes on the steep, hard-access work other crews pass on.
Land Clearing & Lot Clearing
Land Clearing, Lot Clearing & Forestry Mulching Services
Every property is different: a quarter-acre building lot isn’t the same job as five acres of overgrown pasture. KingTek runs the right equipment for the job in front of us, not a one-size-fits-all approach.

What We Clear
Residential & commercial land clearing
Building lots, acreage, pasture reclamation, and commercial development sites.
Forestry mulching
Grinds brush, small trees, and undergrowth into mulch in place. No burn piles and no hauling.
Brush clearing & bush removal
Overgrown fence lines, encroaching bush, and reclaiming land that has grown in.

On the Job
Cleared right down to build-ready
Mulched, cut, or hauled depending on what your land needs next. We run the right equipment for the job, from a quarter-acre lot to multi-acre acreage, and leave the site ready for what comes after.
Residential & Commercial Land Clearing
Whether you’re prepping a lot for a new build, opening up pasture, or reclaiming a property that’s grown wild, we clear it down to what you actually need, nothing more torn up than necessary. We work Kelowna, West Kelowna, Vernon, Lake Country, and Peachland.
Clearing multiple lots for a subdivision or development? See our Land Clearing for Developers & Subdivisions page instead. It’s built around that scale of project.
Forestry Mulching
Forestry mulching is usually the fastest and least disruptive way to clear land. Our mulcher grinds brush, small trees, and undergrowth into mulch right where it stands, instead of cutting, piling, and hauling everything off site. That mulch layer also helps hold the soil in place afterward instead of leaving bare, exposed dirt. It’s a good fit for pasture reclamation, trail clearing, and fuel-reduction work where you want the land cleared but don’t need every stem cut and removed.
Brush Clearing & Bush Removal
For fence lines, property edges, and smaller overgrown areas, brush clearing gets the job done without bringing in the bigger equipment a full land-clearing project needs.
Excavation & Site Prep, As Part of Larger Projects
We run light excavation and site prep as part of bigger land-clearing jobs: grading, pad prep, and getting a lot ready for construction once the vegetation’s cleared. It’s not something we offer as a standalone service on its own; it’s part of the clearing package when a project calls for it. If your job is excavation-only with no clearing involved, we’re probably not the right fit. But if you’re clearing land andneed it prepped for what comes next, that’s exactly the kind of job we take on.
Clearing for Builders, Developers & Subdivisions
Not every clearing job is a single homeowner’s back acre. We also work with builders and developers on larger, multi-lot, and subdivision-scale clearing, sequenced around a build schedule instead of a one-off start-and-finish date. If you’re a developer or contractor planning a project, our Land Clearing for Developers & Subdivisions page is built for that scope: phased timelines, coordination with other trades on site, and quoting by phase or by lot.
How Land Clearing Works
- 1
Site visit & quote
We walk the property, look at density, terrain, and access, and give you a free on-site quote.
- 2
Scheduling
We lock in a start date based on job size and season.
- 3
Clearing
Mulching, cutting, and/or hauling, depending on what the job calls for and what you want done with the debris.
- 4
Site walk-through
We confirm the cleared area matches what was quoted before we call it done.
What Happens to the Debris?
There are three ways a clearing job can leave a property, and which one makes sense depends on what you’re doing with the land afterward:
| Option | Best for |
|---|---|
| Mulch in place (forestry mulching) | Pasture reclamation, erosion control, fastest turnaround |
| Cut and haul away | Building lots and sites where the ground needs to be fully clear |
| Burn (where permitted) | Larger properties with room for a controlled burn |
Burning is regulated in BC. Open burning requires a permit and is subject to seasonal restrictions, so it’s not always an option depending on your property and the time of year. We’ll talk through what fits your site and your timeline before we start.
Land Clearing vs. Tree Removal vs. Excavation: What’s the Difference?
These three get mixed up constantly, and knowing which one you actually need helps you get an accurate quote faster.
| What it is | When you need it | |
|---|---|---|
| Land clearing | Clearing brush, undergrowth, and multiple trees off a piece of land | Prepping acreage or a lot for building, farming, or reclamation |
| Tree removal | Taking down one or a few specific trees | A single hazard tree, a tree too close to a structure, or a few trees on an otherwise clear lot |
| Excavation | Digging, grading, and earthwork | Site prep after land is already cleared. We offer this only as part of a larger clearing project, not on its own |
If you’re not sure which one describes your job, tell us what you’re trying to end up with (a cleared lot, a safer yard, a building pad) and we’ll tell you what it actually is.
Land Clearing Permits in BC & Kelowna
Land clearing can touch a few different layers of local regulation depending on where your property sits and what you’re clearing for:
City of Kelowna: Development and tree-cutting permits can apply depending on lot size, zoning, and whether the property is within a Development Permit Area.
Regional District of Central Okanagan (RDCO): Rural and unincorporated properties fall under RDCO's land-use bylaws rather than city rules.
Crown land: Clearing work near or on Crown land may require approval through FrontCounter BC.
Permit requirements vary a lot by property, so we’re not going to guess at yours here. When we come out for your quote, we’ll flag anything that looks like it needs a permit before work starts, not after.
“Kollin and his brother Peter cleared 12 acres of Ponderosa Pine for me last week. I’ve hired many companies over the years, and I can tell you KingTek will be your best choice in price and sincere service in the Okanagan, guaranteed.”
FAQ
Land & Lot Clearing FAQs
Yes. Most Okanagan properties have some combination of rock, slope, or wet ground, and we run equipment suited to it. Tell us about the terrain when you book your quote so we can plan for it.
Stump grinding isn't a standalone service we sell on its own, but if a cleared lot has stumps you want gone, we can fold that into the land-clearing scope. Flag it when we walk the property and we'll price it in.
It can, depending on the property and what's on it. We're not environmental consultants, so if your project is near sensitive habitat or waterways, we'd recommend checking with the relevant authority before clearing starts. We'll flag anything obvious we notice on-site.
